GCR, Great Central Railway, LE11 1RWThe Great Central Santa Express runs from Loughborough Central Station in Leicestershire, offering a festive steam train journey through the Charnwood countryside. Children meet Father Christmas and his elves aboard heritage carriages decorated with twinkling lights and garlands, receiving activity packs and gifts. The train travels through decorated period stations at Quorn and Woodhouse, and Rothley, pausing on the Swithland Viaduct, with a 25-minute stop at Leicester North, where families can photograph Father Christmas by the locomotive. Adults receive complimentary mince pies and Irish Cream Liqueur, while children enjoy festive treats and drinks. Premium private compartments are available for groups up to eight people, with extended time with Father Christmas and hot chocolate served to your carriage. Arrive at least 30 minutes before departure and allow time for free on-street parking near the station.
